Culinary Croatia is Secret Dalmatia’s fruit of passion, love for food and wine, and an innate desire to bring the best tastes of Croatia to the world.
Secret Dalmatia was started from the desire to do things like Culinary Croatia: to show the incredible abundance and diversity of our country to the world.
In 2005, during an easy afternoon hike, the company founder Alan Mandić stumbled upon an ancient sarcophagus completely unexpectedly. The idea of Secret Dalmatia was born right then and there.
Twenty-something years later, Secret Dalmatia is an esteemed boutique outlet which specializes in bespoke travel, hand-crafted itineraries and unique voyages around Croatia and the Adriatic region, including Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
We are a small team of travel experts, all infatuated with the region and honored to have the opportunity to show it to you. Our network of local partners – many of whom we call friends – is handpicked and includes characterful individuals who excel at what they do. Our experiences and tours have all been personally tried and liked, as well as developed in collaboration with local experts, be it guides, sommeliers or history professors.
But, while we worship exploration, curiosity and the magnificent Croatian landscapes, at the end of the day, it is the food and wine that keep us going!
Culinary Croatia was our first off-spring project, but also the first website in Croatia with a completely culinary focus. A melting pot, our cuisine reflects on the past and the present sometimes even more thoroughly than the architecture and landscapes!

In 2005, Secret Dalmatia was started from pure love for Croatia’s heritage, its incredible diversity, and beauty. We have since remained faithful to our initial mission – and are still today a boutique travel agency dedicated to showing the true, wholesome Croatia to the discerning travelers who want to experience our country and all our riches, not just see it.
A bottle of Croatian wine or rose liquor will go far in telling stories, and so will some of the praised olive oils. Keep the memory of the Adriatic alive with salt from centuries’ old pans at Ston or Pag Island or with a sample of Istria’s famed truffles. Lightweight travelers should consider typical spices like lavender or rosemary, herbal teas or candied orange peels and almonds.
